We all know that this COVID-19 Pandemic has impacted most aspects of daily life and we are slowly coming to the realization (slower for some, than others) that our new normal will be moving towards more remote choices instead of the old norm of in-person. In an effort to keep population density low-enough to avoid spreading illnesses that come from being in close proximity to others, a lot of clinics are opting for telehealth and giving more autonomy to their patients. The new guidelines for how many people can be physically present in a space has been drastically reduced, leading to fewer people seen per day; typically with higher priority given to acute concerns. This is, of course, safer from an infection control perspective. But what about from a coordination of care and patient safety perspective?

Not every patient is ready or capable of such responsibility, however. Often, these patients need to figure out how to give themselves injections at home, or navigate their medication regimen solo. When they don’t meet the requirements for home health, which can be unreasonably pricy for some easy tasks, what alternatives do they have?

There seems to be a viable new option making a name for itself, which is aiming to tackle this gap in healthcare head-on. The platform MedHelperNow lets people hire a nurse that can perform the tasks they need help with, without the middleman price of a home health or other agency. Other venues also exist that cut out the middleman; however, there are concerns with safety and reliability. MedHelperNow verifies the nurses who register and allows clients to rate the nurse, as well. Their user-friendly design was built for people who don’t need the added stress of a complicated system.
